Biltmore Estate: Gardens and Grounds – Bill Alexander

Read Time:49 Second

511jK69HQ5L._SX328_BO1 204 203 200_I've been fascinated by Biltmore's grounds ever since I first saw the place in 1993, and was fortunate to be able to take the boys to all my favorite places when we were there for my birthday in July. 2017-07-08 14.27.04

But this is the book I've needed all those years to tell the history of the site, from its initial siting, to the creation of the Approach-rd_feature4Approach Road to the various gardens, Approach-rd_feature ponds and walks.  A high point was that it had so much information about the approach road (which is really my favorite part) that I was able to identify features as we drove in each day.

The gardens have over a century of history to them now, and the book helped me understand what they are, and why.  Great book.  Of course I read it in the room in one evening so I could use it the next day – what else could I do?

  1. Hi there,
I too am facinated with it. It’s my favorite estate in the US. Check out “Lady on the Hill” it’s specifically about the Biltmore – you’ll love it if you have not already read it. Also, ironically last summer when we visited we made it all the way down to the waterfall as well 🙂 I’ve been tons of times but never made it to the waterfall before. Can you imagine how wonderful it must have been to live there:) Nikki
