Had a little different Christmas /New Year’s this year. But the same in the most important way, which was that we had all our chicks at home for an extended period. Grayson was able to come home from Austin and we had a great extended Christmas break until he went back the day after Christmas. He actually had to work some Christmas Day, but since he can work remotely, he simply spent the morning in the study reviewing and responding to things as needed.

But it was different in two ways this year.
First of all, because I had to use the two weeks to finish up my LL.M classes, when I’m used to having a quiet couple of weeks to work on models and enjoy downtime from the office. So I was working full time (mostly from the study, but sometimes at the Hub) knocking out modules on evaluating damages in civil litigation.
Second, because the Cowboys played on Christmas Eve afternoon, we didn’t get back to Marshall until late that evening, and so pushed off the traditional Christmas Eve present opening until lunch Christmas Day.

But the Cowboys sent us home with a big 40-34 win over the Phlidelphia Eagles, and we did do the traditional reading of Twas the Night Before Christmas in matching PJs when we got home. Some things never change.

We hosted Christmas lunch and dinner at our home, and had Jamie’s cousin Kathy and her family with us for several days, and it was a really good time.
Jamie and I just got back from another trip to DFW, this time spending New Year’s Eve with our supper club friends at Hotel Vin in Grapevine. Had a great dinner Friday night, then a long slow after noon yesterday where I finished up almost the last modules from my class and got a nap in before we went downstairs for the festivities.

I’m back in the study this evening planning the week ahead – finishing up classwork and preparing for the on-campus week starting next Saturday evening, as well as trying to fit in some posting, modeling and writing.
But a good way to end the year. Here’s looking forward to a great 2023!
